The Black Label

№ 0002008020

Common

Winter bird counts — kept in the North Ink stack.

Edition 2,008,020 of 1,000,000,000. 100 shapes, mostly squares, mostly slate. It sits in block 108,948, minted with that block's other 4,999 editions, scattered across the billion.

A later hand corrected the title. Proofreader Okonkwo set it down in a wax rubbing, and the sheet shows fibers lifted where a label was peeled.

It is folio 20 of Hazel 1, in the Red Gallery, North Ink stack. The figure matches the first page of the stack.
