The Salt Sketch

№ 0990000001

Common

Winter bird counts — kept in the New Copper stack.

Edition 990,000,001 of 1,000,000,000. 100 shapes, mostly hexagons, mostly lilac. It sits in block 109,988, minted with that block's other 4,999 editions, scattered across the billion.

The original was copied twice. Keeper Sato set it down in a wax rubbing, and the sheet shows a pin hole at the left edge.

It is folio 1 of Cedar 1, in the Quiet Gallery, New Copper stack. The instrument was recalibrated the next morning.
