The Winter Label

№ 0057201005

Common

Winter bird counts — kept in the North Glass stack.

Edition 57,201,005 of 1,000,000,000. 100 shapes, mostly hexagons, mostly rust. It sits in block 158,918, minted with that block's other 4,999 editions, scattered across the billion.

A later hand corrected the title. Registrar Ellis set it down in a wax rubbing, and the sheet shows a hairline tear at the foot.

It is folio 5 of Elm 1, in the Thin Aisle, North Glass stack. The instrument was recalibrated the next morning.
