The Late Sketch

№ 0459799998

Common

Winter bird counts — kept in the Upper Glass stack.

Edition 459,799,998 of 1,000,000,000. 100 shapes, mostly rectangles, mostly slate. It sits in block 44,673, minted with that block's other 4,999 editions, scattered across the billion.

Ink has browned at the edge. Proofreader Ito set it down in typescript, and the sheet shows a hairline tear at the foot.

It is folio 998 of Willow 10, in the Last Range, Upper Glass stack. Two witnesses disagree by a single unit.
