The Amber Sketch

№ 0021605015

Common

Winter bird counts — kept in the North Brass stack.

Edition 21,605,015 of 1,000,000,000. 100 shapes, mostly rectangles, mostly rust. It sits in block 13,520, minted with that block's other 4,999 editions, scattered across the billion.

Someone numbered it in pencil. Registrar Ito set it down in letterpress, and the sheet shows a crease through the third line.

It is folio 15 of Maple 1, in the Long Vault, North Brass stack. The instrument was recalibrated the next morning.
